Update - Long Overdue

It has truly been a while since we have posted something of significance out in the blog-o-sphere. Life here in Nueva Suyapa has just gotten busy and although there is a lot to tell ..... well, it just doesn't seem to stop long enough to have time to do so. Blogging about the stray little dog that showed up in our neighborhood is one thing, but explaining what's going on in our lives, well that's gonna' take a bit more time.

This past Sunday we organized, with the technical wizardry of my brother-in-law, Norm, a presentation for our home congregation, Orrville Mennonite Church. It included a 17 minute power point presentation of pictures and audio that he helped us put together ahead of time. Following the presentation, we connected to the church via Skype for a live web-cam conversation with the congregation. It was truly amazing! It was eirie sitting in our house, listening to the first part of the service and then starting the web-cam and hear Norm welcome us to the service and tell us we were being projected on the screen and that the congregation could now hear us. We shared a bit more about what was going on and had a time for questions and answers.

The point of all this is that it forced us to organize our photos and narrate the story to update our congregation as to where we are living and what we are doing. And even better the presentation is available for download from the OMC website if you are interested.

We have already blogged or photo-albumed some of the material - but material including descriptions of Nueva Suyapa, our neighbors, our church and Kathy's gardening project is all new. So instead of taking the time to blog in writing about all this... let us just refer you to the magic of audio and visual presentation.

To download - go to the Links section of the OMC website. Download the Troyer Power Point March 22, 2009 zip-file, unzip it, and view the slide show.

You are welcome to view the entire power point if you wish. But if you only want to see specific material - here is a guide to the various sections:

Section 1 - MCC Honduras Team

Section 2 - Where We Live: Tegucigalpa

Section 3 - Where We Live: Nueva Suyapa

Section 4 - Our Church

Section 5 - Disaster Management Work

Section 6 - Stewardship of Christian Ministries
including Garden Project

Enjoy!
